Jellybean toes and chasing rainbows.

Last year was an up and down one: I had to say farewell for now until we meet again at the rainbow bridge. My cats lived quite long and spoiled lives – both made it over 16 years!

I’ve gone through this before, but it hit me a bit harder this time than when I was a child. You get so set in your usual everyday rituals that sometimes you see a shadow or hear a faint mew, but you go on.

We lost Snow in January 2017 and then his brother Izzy the first of November 2017 and I was starting to get that itch again for companions. Then mid-April came along and my friend informed me that there had been a cat who brought kittens to her porch and abandoned them. She and her roommates took the five kittens in and took care of them.

She and I went on a two and a half week trip in May while her roommates took care of the kittens and sent daily photos. Needless to say, they stole my heart.

A few weeks after returning, she had four left to find homes for and brought them over to my house. I thought it would be just a meet and greet style visit, but her plan was to leave two once we had the chance to choose them. We may not have been 100% ready at that moment, but of course we took them in.

They have brought so much laughter and love into our household, these two: Mr. Pip and Gus(tav Klimt). They are really enjoying their new home and are training us humans quite nicely!

We are so excited to have new members to our family and cannot wait to watch them grow up!

On sunny days like today, they like to follow and try to catch the rainbows made by our rainbow maker in the kitchen. Mr. Pip is so determined to catch them all:
