Good evening and happy Monday to you!
Perhaps you had a most splendid start to your week or a rocky one, we’ve done it. Made it through yet another manic Monday. So, what else is there to do left for today, but cap it off with a little bit of mystery?
Do you ever get that feeling that something is just within your reach and then perhaps it disappears or escapes your mind or tongue?
I recently saw a notification the other day that Slade House: A Novel by David Mitchell was now available for me to take out of my digital library. I remember seeing this book years ago – have you ever had that feeling? You remember a cover from a book or even a movie poster from years ago even if you cannot recall the title? Here I was a few weeks ago when I put in the request for the ebook, perusing books to check out when I saw the cover that had intrigued me many moons ago:
I remember walking through the aisles of a bookstore perhaps waiting for a friend. It’s funny how things like that happen: I remember exactly what book store and what time of day, but the occurrences surrounding that particular store escape me.
Perhaps that’s a bit fitting as memory plays a part in this tale. I have only gotten a short way into this book, but find that when I have the chance to sit and read, I devour it. It’s a very easy read, but complex at the same time; you really need to give your full attention to it for there are little details to pick up on and oh so many questions that arise.
Is the reader going to have something solid as their ending? There’s only one way to find out!
Do you dare to enter Slade House with me?
Come and join me as I dive a bit deeper into this tale of shadows in our memory while we think we perceive what is blatantly in front of our faces.
