Not all waters are calm.

Now, let me preface this with the fact that I’ve never been on a cruise before.

Back many moons ago, when I was studying abroad in New Zealand, I took part in a 24-hr cruise; which was basically just staying overnight on a little boat, but nothing more than one night. We got to meet strangers who became friends from other countries and backgrounds and had a wonderful time!

Also, with that being said, I wouldn’t pass up a free cruise…which is precisely what the character in this tale could’ve done.

Here is a tale of mystery taken to a whole new level and dimension of it. What starts off as your normal everyday humdrum life turns on its head quite quickly. I know that I personally already check a locked door multiple times to make sure it’s locked, but there are other ways of entering a room or house than what you think you’re prepared for.

Just when she thinks she’s landed a wonderful vacation for work does, Lo let her walls down, but maybe she shouldn’t have. In an attempt to put them back up, she does so in a frantic way; a way in which we all would were we in her place, that hinders some thoughts running through her mind.

Who to trust?

How best to make contact with the outside world?

Did you do the right thing?

What in fact is the right thing?

This book has you tossing and turning in allegiance to different characters. What a rollercoaster of emotions and hints to tease you into thinking you’ve figured it out and that the story is about to end…and then something else wild happens!

It’s unusual to try to think that you might react differently, but if you were put in such a situation: do you think you could solve it much faster or how do you think you would’ve gone about it?

Once you read this book (or listen as I did), it really makes you wonder: am I where I want to be? I should hope it would not take this murderous cruise for me to figure out I need to change some things in my life to get on a better path towards happiness. But, then again, you never can predict what will happen to you.

Let us hope, for our own sake, that nothing like this cruise befalls us on our next vacation. Because, as we all know, vacations and traveling should be full of magic and wandering and not constantly watching your back.

And now to plan my next trip…
