I found myself in a predicament this morning: I had finished my true crime podcast and needed a replacement. Based on other podcasts that I listen to, one was referred to me titled Pleasing Terrors.
This podcast goes through creepy stories similarly to Lore and, on the second episode in particular, I had a flashback. Around this time last year, I had begun a book called The Bell Witch: An American Haunting.
I always like listening, reading and watching the spooky and scary, so hearing this made me really realize how close we are to fall as well as Halloween (perhaps my favorite holiday!). This was a story of a family that had the unfortunate luck to be haunted and abused by a spirit by the name of Kate.
This spirit told many lies, but also had a gentle side at times. I recall reading in the book that she was fond of the mother, but most definitely not the father, John Bell, whose demise is blamed on this Kate.
There were times when the father could not eat and times when she would pull a cover off or drag someone around by their hair! Can you even imagine?! I may enjoy watching these scary movies, but, if it came down to me being put in a horror movie situation, I would most likely end up being the first to be offed.
I almost didn’t even start this podcast due to the creepy artwork for the show. I do not like puppet dummies-Slappy from Goosebumps terrified me as a youngster (laugh all you want!). Can’t wait to see what else is to come on this podcast!
What else should I be listening to and reading?
