A Total Eclipse of My Mind.

Today is a day not for Murder Monday, but for an amazing scientific feat!

Today was a day for history – it’s been 99 years since there was a solar eclipse! Today was one of those days that I will remember forever. It’s one of those events where you’ll remember exactly where you were, who you were with and perhaps even what you were wearing > all for this one special event.

It started as a normal enough day, but soon became clear that most people were not prepared. I luckily have a super prepared mum who had ordered them well in advance!

She is such a thoughtful lady who had bought a bunch so that they could be included in the gifts for my brother and his wife’s baby shower we had put on at the beginning of August. To see her so happy because everyone thought it was the best part of the gift made me happy for her!

Everyone seemed to be scrambling to look for glasses and, when they found out it was a bit too late to purchase them, they even tried to make a pinhole type viewer. I brought several pair with me to work so that we were able to pass them amongst us.

My parents were a bit closer than me, up in the mitten state of Michigan, as they drove down south to Kentucky to get a better and fuller view. My mum kept me updated on what they could see as well in real-time! I hope that they are thoroughly enjoying their trip – they are so deserving of a nice vacation!

What a fun day, all in all though! Speaking of science, history and astrology. Makes me want to know more – if only we all could hold the type of knowledge that someone like Neil De Grasse Tyson can hold…who knows what could happen?!

Did you get a chance to view the eclipse?
